The Ultimate Guide of Finding CoLivings and CoWorkings in Barcelona

Barcelona is one of my favorite digital nomad hubs. It’s a city immersed with creatively-designed architectures, rich culture, and a vibrant local and international crowd. Since it has a dynamic gathering, it’s quite easy to make friends in Barcelona as a digital nomad.

I’ve spent almost 2 months in Barcelona in the summer and love every second of it. I had my first experience staying at a CoLiving, first time organizing nomad meetups, and first time surrendering to how late Catalans party until. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Things to Know Before Finding Your Accommodation in Barcelona:

Pricing: When it comes to finding accommodation in Barcelona, expect the rent to be very high. If you are a nomad used to taking advantage of the geographic arbitrage in other sun destinations, you will not find that kind of price in Barcelona.

Neighborhoods: Some of the best neighborhoods to live in Barcelona include: El Born, Eixample, Gràcia, Gothic Quarter, Sant Antoni, Poblenou and Barceloneta.

Weather: Summer could be very hot in Barcelona ranging from 25°C to 30°C in general, but with the heatwave, some days could be over 35°C, yet many accommodations do not have Air Conditioner. If this is important to you, be sure to include that in your search requirements.

Best Way to Find a CoLiving

My first step of finding a CoLiving in a new city is always to go on CoLiving.com to get a quick sense of the price range and the availability of the city. The reality of the CoLiving world is that most of them are independently owned and operated, and many do not display their availability on their website, so you would need to go back and forth with the contact person to book the place. The beauty of using CoLiving.com to find a CoLiving is that you can:

  • View a comprehensive list of CoLivings available in the destination city. With over 1200 CoLiving property partners in 300+ cities worldwide, CoLiving.com has probably the largest CoLiving inventory in a given city.

  • Check availability directly on the platform

  • Easily see minimum stay requirement on the property summary page

  • Message the property manager and view their past response rate

  • See reviews from members who have stayed at a specific property

Things to Consider When Looking for a CoLiving

Below are the things I would verify before booking a CoLiving to ensure a productive and enjoyable stay.

  • Private room

  • Minimum Stay requirement

  • Has a proper desk

  • Adequate wifi speed

  • Window with natural lights

  • Price

  • Location, easy access to public transportation

  • Social scene - whether there are community events or a whatsapp group

  • Private bathroom ideally

Best CoLivings in Barcelona:

1. Live It Ramblas

Live It has multiple CoLivings in the center of Barcelona and Madrid, and it’s coming soon to Valencia. There are 3 locations in Barcelona so far. Live It Ramblas, is the main building with all the amenities including an open-air gym and a beautiful rooftop.

Out of all of the CoLivings in Barcelona, I ended up choosing to stay at Live It Ramblas for a month and a half, and definitely enjoyed my experience there, especially due to its convenient location and the stunning rooftop.

Let me share some pros and cons of living at Live It Ramblas based on my personal experience living there.

Pro:

  • Location: Live It Ramblas is a few minutes walk from Plaça Reial, a public square with lots of open-air sitting, and Mercat de la Boquerìa, where you can grab a quick bite from wold-famous food market. It’s right off the famous La Rambla boulevard, where you’ll find lots of shops, restaurants, and street performances, even late into the night. But the CoLiving is off the main boulevard on a quiet street, and the rooms do have good insulation.

  • The Ramblas location has an outdoor gym, which is hard to find among CoLivings.

  • A spacious rooftop with beautiful views.

  • Super fast internet, upwards 300 Mbps.

  • One of the few CoLivings in Barcelona that has air conditioners in the unit, very helpful during summer months.

  • The building is newly furnished with a modern, full-service kitchen.

  • Good social scene.

Con:

  • The one-time administration fee is high, and could be confusing.

  • CoWorking is right next to the reception, which can be distracting, and it’s quite small.

Minimum Stay: 1 month

Pricing: € 870/month and up, see notes below about the admin fee.

One-time Administration Fee: Do note that they charge a one-time administration fee which is equivalent to one month of rent. I know this sounds like a substantial amount, especially if you’re just staying for a month, but keep in mind, this is a one-time charge, whether yo are staying for multiple months or just one month, the amount of the admin fee does not change. This means, the longer you stay, the more months you get to amortize this admin fee. I ask arounda few local residents, and it seems some properties in Spain do charge an admin fee, so be sure to check the details to avoid surprises.

2. Live It Liceu

Live It Liceu has a similar style with the main building Live It Ramblas as being spacious and having great lighting. You can access to all the amenities at Live It Ramblas, including the outdoor gym, rooftop and CoWorking.

Minimum Stay: 1 month

Pricing:

  • € 800/month and up

  • Revisit Live It Ramblas section about the admin fee structure for Live It CoLivings.

Location: This is a new location, very close to the Liceu subway station and the other two Love It buildings.

3. Circles House CoLiving

Circles House CoLiving is a premium CoLiving in Barcelona with a theme of conscious entrepreneurs, but don’t be afraid to contact them even if you are not an entrepreneur. Situated on the top of the mountain, it’s away from the bustling scene in the city center, and has a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. The interior is also beautifully designed, so it’s quite an inspiring space to live, work and relax.

Minimum Stay: 1 months

Pricing: ~€750/month for a shared room, €1500/month and up for a private room

Location: Located at the north end of the city, it’s a bit far from the center, but it’s perfect if you want some focus time and a magnificent view.

4. Live It Gothic

Live It Gothic is also situated at a prime location, and it’s the cheapest option among the Live It buildings in Barcelona. But compared to the other two buildings, the rooms and beds are a bit smaller at this location and some rooms do not have the perfect lighting as Live It Ramblas do. But you do get to save some money and have access to all the amenities at the main building Live It Ramblas, including the outdoor gym, rooftop and CoWorking.

Minimum Stay: 2 months

Pricing:

  • € 725/month and up

  • Cheapest option among the Live It buildings in Barcelona.

  • Revisit Live It Ramblas section about the admin fee structure for Live It CoLivings.

Location: Situated in the famous Gothic district, it’s just a few minutes walk away from Plaça Reial and the main building Live It Ramblas.

Their properties are often beautiful and comfortable apartments, but they have a minimum requirement of 3 months of stay.

5. Node CoLiving - Tetuan

Minimum Stay: 3 months

Pricing: € 700/month and up

Location: Calle Valencia 340, close to Casa Batlló by Gaudí, trendy and stylish neighborhood with a lot of fancy shops.
